Yes, yet another year passes, and Chairman Peter was able to relieve himself (it’s an age thing!) of the office chain.
Duly smartened up (following a stern directive in the Newsletter about decorum, tradition, slipping standards, blah, blah, blah etc), some 21 members, and 1 due to be enrolled member turned up at the very accommodating Crescent Hotel for the AGM. Numbers unfortunately had been hit by a flurry of late apologies from members who had attended the Scalby Easter Walk and subsequently succumbed to COVID, but as John White had already pre ordered the free wine ( a very nice Fleurie and Pinot Grigio), the members who did attended decided the only honourable thing to do was to make sure none was left.
Secretary Mike took control of proceedings and following some very brief reports from the Secretary, the Treasurer, the catering officer and the membership officer, Darren, our sports officer was left with 35 minutes to fill! New officers were elected, as per the agenda. Peter, our outgoing Chairman, had the pleasure of enrolling Ben Kitto, a former 88 Tabler, and gave out some fancy French rose (with an acute accent over the e but I can’t find out how to do that without translating the whole page!) to all last year’s committee members.

He then gave a succinct report on how, and where, his year had gone. Peter then passed over the Chain of Office to Charlie Hindle, who then proceeded to tell us how his year would go (he hopes).
A good 3 course meal, supplemented by the plentious wine, enabled the rest of the evening to slip quietly into oblivion.
