It is with sadness that we have today announced the cancellation of the Cardiff Conference and AGMs, which was necessitated by Covid-19 in the interests of everyone’s safety.
The reason for our delay in announcing this was purely been down to the contractual position with all venues and the close proximity of the event. This could have resulted in a potential loss in excess of £80k on the functions and some guests having to pay cancellation fees/not receiving refunds on rooms booked at either conference hotel.
The Cardiff Conference Team, specifically our National Fellowship Officer Steve James, and Conference Chair Duncan Kennedy, have successfully negotiated a resolution which avoids major losses to either the Associations or the Attendees.
We acknowledge how disappointed the Cardiff Conference Team must be that all their hard work has been thwarted and take this opportunity to thank them for all that work.
We are resolving the situation regarding our AGM, the transfer of roles, and the election of officers before the end of May. We are in un-chartered territory here so bear with us – we are working on it and will notify you further in due course.
At an individual club level you will be facing similar issues. Do not worry about deferring meetings including AGMs – just comply with the government instructions regarding social isolation and keep safe above all.
Yours in Continued Friendship
Andrew Mackereth – National President 2019-2020
