November Meeting – Membership Drive

We are all aware of the necessity to recruit new members thereby ensuring the continuation and survival of our club and that, historically, we have looked to Round Table to provide us with new blood. From discussions I have had with Dave Robinson, current (and previous) chairman of Round Table 88 it appears that this source of potential new members is in deep trouble. Dave tells me that RT have only 5 active members. This is something that should concern us all.

Having had discussions with various members of 41 Club it became apparent that something should be done. Accordingly, our meeting to be held on November 23rd will take place at The Central Hotel and will be a recruitment event for RT and, by extension, ourselves. Peter Wilkinson and his team at Scarborough Ambassadors have kindly allowed use of their data base to enable RT to target suitable prospective members and Dave Robinson has written a letter of introduction inviting those interested to come to the meeting and learn a little more about the RT/41 movement. I have made contact with York RT who have agreed to send a delegation to our meeting and they will also speak of their own experiences of revitalising a dormant club and making it a vibrant, relevant organisation once again.

I hope that we will achieve a good attendance from all quarters. I duly invited Wynn Parry to this event and advised him of our strategy and he was impressed with our vision and cooperation across the various clubs. Unfortunately he is unable to attend but wishes us well. Fingers crossed that it all works!
