New Members Evening at the Central Hotel

The November meeting was a joint meeting with Scarborough 88 Round Table and was looking to encourage new attendees at both clubs.

There were a good in attendance with 88 Round Tablers, guest Tablers from York 65 and a representative of National 41 Club.

The evening started off with an introduction by Roman Scott director Historic Hotels and Properties Ltd the owner of the Central Hotel in addition to other hospitality premises in Scarborough and Whitby. He gave us an over view of the companies plans, Roman is a possible new member for 41 Club.

The evening’s food was provided courtesy of the hotel with a tasty main course of sausage and mash with vegetables followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard for pudding.   

After the meal Scarborough 88 Chairman gave a presentation on the varied activities they enjoy at their meetings and their charity work involving Santa’s Sleigh.

Several members of York 65 gave a most interesting presentation outlining their club activities, charity events in York including popular quiz nights as well as international tabling around the globe.

Next up was 41 Club National Officer Shaun Redman who is also a member of Bridlington 41 Club who spoke about the current status of 41 Club and future proposals.

Last but not least, Scarborough 41 Club members Richard Grunwell and Peter Wilkinson spoke about how their lives had been enriched by membership of Round Table and 41 Club including international connections.

The evening was overall a great success and hopefully there will be a boost to membership of both Round Table and 41 Club.

Mike Shingler reminded 41 Club members of the imminent Santa Sleigh collections and asked for assistance of Elf collectors.

Darren Kellett sports officer reminded members of the upcoming Rugby meal and match.
